Abstract

Arabs have been active in promoting international trade since ancient times. They were carrying out trade between East and West since about two thousand years before Christ. The Prophet of Islam himself traveled to Syria, Yemen and Bahrain for commercial purposes before the Prophethood. In order to stabilize world trade, Abd al-Manaf made trade agreements with Caesar Rome, Kasira Iran, Najashi Abyssinia and the state of Yemen. Quraysh trade caravans used to go to both Syria and Yemen, especially twice a year. Arab coins found in different islands of Europe are proof that Arab traders used to go to European countries for trade. Geographically, the Arabian Peninsula became an international market for merchants from the East and West. Pilgrims used to play a key role in promoting trade links with different regions of the world. Arab trade caravans used to go to Yemen, Gaza, Bethlehem, Damascus, Abyssinia and Egypt. To the east, the Arabs had trade relations with India, Iran, China, Sri Lanka, Indonesia and Malaysia.
