Allama Burhanuddin Murghinani's illustrious masterpiece, 'Al Hidayah,' holds a position of unparalleled distinction within the Hanafi school of law. The profound impact and enduring popularity of the book are evident from the fact that Haji Khalifa, in his esteemed work 'Kashf al-Zunun,' has mentioned more than thirty interpretations and commentaries on it. These commentators embarked on a journey of critical inquiry, exploring its nuances through thoughtful critique and skillfully presenting their logical arguments. Among these critics stands the distinguished figure of Ibin Abi al-Az, whose scholarly contributions and insightful analysis have left an indelible mark on the discourse surrounding this work. While critically studying Al-Hidayah, he bravely challenged its shortcomings, paving the way for a comprehensive work titled 'Al-Tanbih Ala Mushkilat Al-Hadayah.' In this book, he raises thought-provoking questions concerning the hadiths quoted by the author, analyzes the diverse opinions of jurists about the discussed matters, elucidates the rationale behind the rulings through the lens of Qiyas, and, in some cases, questions the ruling itself. In the upcoming section, we will analyze Ibn Abi al-Az's objections to the hadiths cited in ‘Hidayah,’ focusing on selected excerpts from "Kitab al-Shahadat" to "Kitab al-Iqrah." This examination aims to understand the implications of his criticisms for our interpretation of the text.
