Study of Similar Verses by Al- Shaikh Hasan Ahmad Al- GUJARATI (died 983H)

Abstract

The term Similar Verses means the verses that are repeated in the Qur’an. We find similarity in their wording, but in some verses, there is difference in arrangement of words, or the substitution of a letter or word for another place or another word, or in some of them there is a type of addition and in the end some deduction. The scholars concluded that this type of expression presents the beauty of the Qur’an and keen and absolute supervision of the Qur’anic context. They compiled books to explain the reasons for their repetition and the benefit inherent in repeating them in a distinguished style. Among them is the Indian scholar Sheikh Hassan bin Ahmed Al-Gujrati from Ahmedabad in India, whom I will introduce. So, I want to introduce the work of this venerable Indian scholar in this field, so that the Arab and Islamic world can become acquainted with his valuable work in this regard.
